Dec Sunrise

 

 

Had better luck with a decent coloured sunrise this morning. Unfortunately I wasn't prepared for it as this was taken through my bathroom window.

At Folkestone harbour this morning. I was hoping to capture some magnificent dawnbreak colours but that part didn't come off so I had to improvise.

My sister made this insect objet d'art using old computer bits and then I was let loose on it with my D7000.

Sun Halos

 

 

 

Has been a good day for sun optics thanks to sunlight refracting in cirrus cloud. One is a circumzenithal arc and the other was a sundog (or mock sun) looking like a comet streaking through the air.

Road To Nowhere

 

 

 

For now as the cobbled section of a road just around the corner of my house is being taken up and then tarmacked over. Soon it'll be a two way system after having been one way for decades.

Not a bad start to Autumn "proper" since we're now in GMT. The sun now sets to my south west when viewed from my west-facing hobby room instead of the more built up north west quarter.

Some More Night Time Fun

 

 

Had a proper go at doing a star trail. The weather was fine, calm and clear, I now fully understood the camera settings needed for the shot but this time I had to contend with a big bright full moon which almost drowned out the stars.
  I also had a go at taking a long exposure zoom.

Night Time Fun

Tried to have another go at bagging that money star trail shot, but a passing shower had scuppered things. So, instead I did some more normal night time photography.

Star Trek

Had a go at trying to pick out the Milky Way with my D7000 last night since skies were fine and clear - at least for a built up area.

Indoors Sunbathing

Jet making the most of the Autumn sunshine, even while in the comfort of my hobby room.

September Sunrise

Been a while since I had the sudden urge to get out of bed early hoping to capture a decent sunrise. While this one wasn't really the most fiery display when viewed from Folkestone Harbour, it did look nice in its own right.

Went to the newly restored harbour arm again today, but this time in the evening for some night time shots.

Black Cat Appreciation Day

Tried to celebrate this special day by doing another photo shoot with my Jet, but unfortunately he wasn't in the mood to be a compliant model. I think it was late and he wanted his sleep.

Mid-Summer Fireworks

A fireworks display occurred at the harbour this evening, but this time I was ready for it.

PS: I felt the last shot has some interest as I spotted a kid playing with a sparkler shortly before the fireworks were due to start.
