Saturday Big Bang

An "End of Summer blowout" firework display took place over Folkestone harbour this evening. I had set up the Big Camera in next door's front garden but ended up with only just the one usable photo due to drizzle and wind shaking the camera, it was to be expected but nice to watch anyway.

Just happened to wake up at an early enough time to spot this pre-heavy rain dusk sky.

High Summer

 

As this Summer on steroids has been putting up quite a fight lately. I drew this doodle while sat outside again this afternoon but a change in our weather is afoot.

Reinventing Myself

I noticed my recent snapshot of me wearing my home made eclipse glasses was quite well received on social media, so decided to expand on that using The Big Camera. 

Evening Storm

It is true when they say worse thing happens out at sea. Have captured this retreating sunlight storm cell over the Channel on my Delta Flyer this evening.

The 91% Eclipse

Which occurred at around 7.10 pm in what was a fine, warm and clear evening.

Convergence Line

 
General northerly airflow versus onshore surface sea breeze in from south created a slow-moving convergence lone along the coast line this morning, but instability was too weak to produce that much in the way of rain save odd localised spots. You can see how cumulus in the distance were heavy capped.
  Almost a shame as this type of set up is what gives us our most memorable surprised localised downpours if conditions were more ideal. Until then, my current record of 35 days without significant rainfall in my back yard remains intact.

Light Pillar

Have captured a light pillar after the sun has set (caused by sunlight being refracted in ice crystals that makes up high cloud) over Folkestone this evening.

No AI trickery, just a slight bit of manual processing to bring the photo out a bit.

Corona

Spotted from my front garden this afternoon. Iridescence caused by sunlight being diffused in very thing altostratus cloud.

Evening Skies

Got to see noctilucent clouds and a nice moon rise on what was a clear and calm evening. Both photos were taken two minutes apart on my personal Delta Flyer above my house. 

June Storm

Managed to capture this cheeky popcorn storm with my Big Camera as it passed by harmlessly over the Strait of Dover from Folkestone this evening. This has come about after a few days of record breaking heat for June. 

Night Life

Folkestone on the shortest night of the year. This was taken at midnight and you can just about make out twilight in a couple of photos.
