A Fine Day

Excellent lighting made for a very good photography day today.

The black cat being on the prowl is Chad. This is a rare moment as he doesn't like to stay out in the sun for too long (black fur and strong sunlight doesn't go well together).

East Cliff Promenade HDR

Went for a stroll down to the local beach this morning, and got these HDR-type shots. It's underneath the promenade, a long concrete feature that runs along the back end of the sandy beach.

Triple Cascade

Caught this on my early morning wander about the harbour. The strong low sunshine gave me the fast shutter speed needed to get this shot.

A Sandcastle Competition

For once, the weather turned out text-book fine and sunny today, and just as well as a sandcastle building competition took place at the local beach this afternoon. The lass in the last photo is Kaddy Lee Preston (BBC local news weather presenter) who was the judge.

Folkestone Charivari

A carnival-like procession passed by my house. As you can see it made for yet another photography opportunity. Thankfully this time the sun came out to play and provided excellent lighting to bring out the colour.

That Summer Feeling

Actually, these photos were taken at roughly the same time as the three HDR Hut photos - all yesterday, at a time when the weather was very warm, dry and sunny. It's now cold, blustery and cloudy as I type this and suddenly, that summer-like weather - as shown in the above two photos - has very quickly become a distant memory!

Old Army Barracks

Stumbled across these old army barracks while on a bike ride. There were no gates, parameter fences, snarling alsatians and burly security men . . . so I thought "why not". Hence these three HDR-flavoured photos.

French Coast

Superb visibility today had enabled me to see not just the french coast but make out the texture on the cliff edge!

Corona Cloud

Iridescent colours seen on a cloud corona. Usually caused by light being refracted inside tiny supercooled water droplets (water that remains as liquid at -40 C) in a cirrocumulus cloud layer. Photo was taken from my front garden earlier on today.

"W" Is For Weather

Contrail formation spotted from my hobby room window at 7.30 am this morning.
