Sunny September

Went on a bike ride, and naturally the camera tagged along with me. It felt a real proper summer's day rather than as a stormy Autumn one! Even got sunburnt in the process. The photos shown in here are in the correct chronological order, with the first photo taken at the beginning of the bike ride to the last one at the end of the journey two hours later.

The Harbour At Night

Actually, the original idea was to take shots of a falling satellite but since none were forthcoming, I took some long exposure night time shots of the beach/harbour area while I was at it.

Another Church HDR

While checking out the area for a Christening photoshoot, I couldn't resist fitting in a HDR session while I was at it.
This is St Peter's Church, near the harbour (about a five minutes walk from my house). I'm fast running out of local churches to test my HDR mettle with!

Beach Beauty

Just like the other morning, a gap in the uniform cloud sheet had delivered this sunrise. But this time I was more prepared for it as I was on the beach itself by the time the sun rose above the horizon.

Tangerine Dawn

Upon awakening at 6.15 am and looking out a window, I noticed a little gap at the uniform stratocumulus layer at at the horizon where I expected the sun to rise, so I grabbed the camera and went down to the harbour area. As you can see, the result are pleasing.

Convective Evening Sky

The setting sun had done a good job in back lighting some convective cumulus this evening.

Strolling Couple

It's being a fine Autumn's day today. That's more like it as it provided a lovely light for outdoors photography.

Saw this coloured sunrise moments upon awakening at 6.30 am.

Stormy September

Once again, the Atlantic woke up and gave us a day of stormy seas today. This is the result of an ex-hurricane, Katia, crashing into Scotland.

The Old High Street

This photo was taken three days ago. Who needs a time machine?

Fluff and Princess

My sister's two maine coons being that slightly bigger and older, but still just as cute.
A bit like me, really.

The Autumn season came in true style today, and Folkestone has been battered by gales all day.

Towards The Light

6.30 am: Wide awake, so decided to go on an early morning motorbike ride.
6.45 am: Headed for Canterbury.
7.15 to 7.20 am: I took these two shots.
7.45 am: Mum rang me up on my mobile to say that Uncle John had passed away.

Classic Car Exhibition

The annual Classic Car exhibition took place at The Leas today. Just like last year, the weather and lighting were spot on perfect for it, but this time I used my new Lumix FZ45.

The Dark Side

Made use of the shaft of sunlight that beamed into my hobby room earlier on this afternoon. I have done this kind of thing before but I used my new D3100 on this one.

All The Fun Of The Fair - Revisited

Night time long exposure photos of Radnor Park fun fair. Tried to ...repeat and improve on last year's attempt but I do feel that it is no better as 1) Caravans, lorries, generators and vans blocked more of the view. 2) The rides weren't arranged that well photography-wise 3) None of the rides moved for ages as there were hardly anyone there and 4) It was cold, windy and wet. I used my new Lumix TZ45 for this session. No adjustments has been carried out on the photos themselves.

My New Friend

Next door's kitten. The one that could jump a hundred feet to catch unsuspecting passing butterflies.

Donkey Derby

The annual Donkey Derby took place at the town over the weekend.
Incidentally, the morning started off as being wet and windy and the event was threatened with cancellation . . . but then suddenly the sun came out on the moment and thus made for an excellent photography session.

The Clearance

Nice bit of back end clearance as the cloud belt - lit up by the setting sun - recedes into the eastern horizon.
