Another Sunrise

Got to see another decent coloured sun rise this morning. This settled quiet spell is certainly producing the goods!

January Sunrise

Another lovely sunrise this morning, as seen from the back of my house.

I'm gonna have to be more prepared and take myself to a better location for this kind of thing, but colourful sunrises - and sunsets - are very unpredictable things! That's why I do miss my daily commute to work when I was working.

Bright Moon

The ol' moon has got his hat on this evening. Spotted from my back yard.

Virgii formation

Spotted over the Strait Of Dover earlier on today.

Caused by cloud condensing into as ice crystals - which can be seen as those wispy bits - but turning to as rain and then evaporating before actually reaching sea level.

Winter At The Beach

Snow may seem to be lacking so far this winter, but at least I was able to get out with the camera whenever the weather does become bright and settled (in between the stormy stuff, that is!). What you are seeing in this batch of photos are Folkestone Harbour and the beach to the east of it.

Morning Has Broken

After what it has been a rough and rather windy couple of days, things settled down enough to produce this nice hued dawnbreak this morning.

A Fine January's Day

It was a nice day here at Folkestone, so I went for a wander about the town to blow the cobwebs out of my lungs.

Light Dome

Finally cracked was is supposed to be a well kept secret in the world of photography!

Guess Who Is Back?!

The results of a "Make Your Own Morph" kit I got for Christmas.

Unfortunately Morph had to be sitting down for the whole photo shoot as his little old legs kept buckling under his own weight, and as you can see in the third photo, the years has not been kind to his face.

December Sunrise

Had this lovely - and long lasting - post Christmas sunset as viewed from my hobby toom today. Been a while since I last got to see a real proper coloured one!

The first one was taken at 4 pm, and the one below about twenty minutes later. The third photo is a HDR using three bracketed shots (three photos of the same thing but each with varied exposure settings and merged into as one image).

The Old Place

That is my former workplace at Farthing Common. I went to visit a friend who lives near there, so I decided to have a trip around memory lane.

Christmas?

. . . B'ah humbug.

Winter Solstice Sunset

A fine sunny day was rounded off with this colour hued sunset as viewed from my hobby room. A shame that today was the shortest day of the year as it was positively spring-like!

A Midwinter's Day

We may be lacking the snows so far this year, but the low winter sun does make for some decent daytime photography - such as this view of Castle Hill Avenue at Folkestone shows.

December Sunrise

Not seen one of those in a long time - a decent red sunrise. This was taken from a rather frosty front garden at 7.45 am.

Christmas Lights

Folkestone town's christmas lights are now up and running.

Bright Night

You know it's winter when it is brighter in the night than during the day time!

The very full moon showed off the effect quite well at 3 am.

Folkestone In A New Light

Some decorative LED lights has been installed in the old Inner Harbour just around the corner from my house. One not to let a decent photography opportunity pass me by, I took myself out there, even though it was cold and blustery.

Was worth ruining my new trainers as I stepped into sticky silt!

Dungeness Mirage

An ultra zoom lens view of Dungeness, taken from Sandgate. Note the slight mirage effect caused by cold air sitting on top of what is still a fairly warm English Channel.

Leas Lift

A HDR-type photo of the Leas Cliff, taken on a sunny but very cold Monday morning.
