St John's Church

Yes, another HDR, but this is something I've always wanted to do, take the inside of a church using that very method. This is a local church taken earlier on this morning.

Cloudy Sky HDR

This is a test shot to see how HDR does handle cloudy skies, and as you can see it does a good job in showing off all that hidden texture!

Toy Story

Yes, I was that bored. Actually, it was a favour for a friend, she wanted some photos taken of items so that she can put them up for sale on the internet . . . the toys, not the photos! Needless to say I couldn't resist turning it into as a photo opportunity.

The Seeds Of Change

Noticed this cluster of seed pods, millions of them, while on a bike ride.

Cumulus Congestus

A developing cumulus congestus spotted from Sellinge yesterday. That went onto producing a popcorn storm over mid-Kent later on that afternoon.

More HDR goodness.

Earlier on today, I went about the town looking for suitable subjects I could test my new-found HDR skills on.

HDR Morning

My first ever "true" HDR image - comprising of three identical photos but with different exposures each and all merged into one "super image" using a clever bit of software.
A HDR image is where the exposure is evenly balanced right across the picture so that there are no shadows or blown highlights. It is supposed to represent how we actually see everything.

It's A Bug's Life

Did some macro photography this afternoon using the local wildlife as my subject. The jumping spider in the second photo is actually less than 5 mm in width.

Let There Be . . .

. . . Cake! My first bit of food photography. This was for a friend who is trying to start up a business selling cup cakes.

Folkestone Mural

Spotted on the side of a building earlier on today. I've always known it's presence for ages but it wasn't until today I got around to taking a photo of it, and the available light was just right for it in any case.

One Fine Spring Day

The spring-like weather continued into today, and what you are seeing is the result of a wander-about.

Moody Skies

After a fortnight of fine weather, the gloom returned.

The Cathedrals Express

Taken just an hour ago at time of typing this chapter. I only heard about it by reading the local paper this morning so it was very much a spur of the moment thing. And photography-wise, this train couldn't have come a second sooner as the evening light was fading rapidly as the sun set behind the cliff. With literally just minutes of useable daylight left to go, the train turned up!

Cheese!

Me taking a photo of Em's little boy, Thomas taking a photo of me.

Meandering Along

As I continued to road test my new D3100. This is at a sandy beach only a five minutes walk from my house. I'm still wondering what works the best, the greyscaled or colour version.

Hard Times

Ever since Scooby Doo II bombed in the box office ratings, Shaggy had fallen on hard times. Actually, I have taken a similar thing to this before but this is me testing out my brand new camera - a Nikon D3100!

Invasion Of The Vandals

Painted on a telephone exchange box.

"Hoy! Are yee lookin' at wor lass?"

I don't think this seagull appeciated me taking a photo of him.

Monday Morning Face

Even Chad has the Monday morning face.

Chips . . . And Spice

Meet a ladyfriend's new pet guinea pig - Chips (a chocolate-coloured marble cake little thing).
