Cinematic Experience

  

       

Got involved with a couple of fellow photographers and spent an evening taking photos of the town's cinema. We had the run of the place for a couple of hours thanks to the manager letting us loose in there with our cameras.

Although I have done this some time ago as part of a 365 photos project, I thought I'd do a proper polished up version now that I've got to grips with most things photography/camera-related.

A Grim December's Day

Hook Clouds

Them hook-shaped clouds are virgas, which are pockets of precipitation - snow in this case - being picked out by the rising sun. However, those little snow "streamers" then encountered drier air on the way down and thus evaporated way before it had a chance to reach the surface.
  An hour after this photo was taken, skies become totally clear. It was also a cold morning with a ground frost.

No, I've not become homeless. This was part of a promotional type shoot for my nephew Martin (he's a rap artist).

Newspaper?

Just what IS it about cats and newspapers? I was cutting out bits from some newspapers and made a pile of rubbish in the process. Then Chad came along and decided to make it as his official bed for the afternoon.

October Colours

Managed to bag this short but sweet sunrise upon awakening at 6 am this morning. I ran the short distance down to the harbour to get this It was freezing cold where I had the first frosty numb fingers of the season but certainly woke me up and set me up for the rest of the day!

It's A Small World

Checked out a model railway exhibition today.

(The last one isn't a model layout, it's the actual exhibition itself being made to look small by a "tilt and shift" effect - talk about me messing about with your head!).

Grim October's Day

Grim and wet at Folkestone. Yet this time last year we were basking in 84 F heat on what was the hottest October's day on record.

Decided to have another go at light spirographing, but this time I used a colour-changing LED bulb.

A Fine Autumn's Day

A bright and cheerful morning at my street, taken on my mobile phone earlier on today. Note how the grass verges are looking parched after only 5.1 mm of rain had fallen so far this month (we should be onto about 40 mm halfway through September).

This little hidden corner of Folkestone has always appealed to me. I think I do understand why it was given that namesake.

Self Portrait

My sister wanted some photos taken of herself, so I thought I'd do a test portrait studio photo of myself while I was at it. I used the D3100 and a broken blind for the background and ended up being very pleased with the result. I was that pleased with it, I decided to stick it in here.

 Not bad for a cheap knock-about set up!

ISS Flypass

As viewed from my hobby room window at 9.18 pm. However, the evening twilight had washed out the "streak" (the trail of the International Space Station) which can just about be seen above the crane.
