Out With The Old, In With The New

While I do realise Bladerunner 2020 has been a long, difficult and tiring year for many of us thanks to the COVID crisis and it's only natural for us to hope for the better come the new year, thankfully (and mercifully) I and my elderly mother got through the past year pretty much unscathed (touch wood) and I hope that will continue into 2021.

To be honest, the doodle is me being apprehensive about the fallout post-COVID times.

Bright Spell

Noticed it was unusually bright in my famed west-facing hobby room at 11 am, it was caused by the low winter noon sun glinting off the Strait of Dover as well as a wet Folkestone harbour.

It's a Corona Christmas.

Mask Woes

Reason why I rarely include masks in my doodles, and those with big noses (eg, me) might relate to this.

Evening Lights Take Two

 

Revisited the Old High Street at Folkestone this evening. I wasn't happy with the first set taken on Saturday after spotting a hair on the lens, so I had another go this evening but this time with a hair-free camera.

Evening Lights

Went for a constitutional around the Folkestone harbour area with my camera while the weather was being calm and there was hardly a soul to be seen (we are still in "lockdown" due to the COVID situation).

Autumn Sun

 

Grabbed this soft low Autumn sun with my mobile phone while on the way to a newsagents, I was just glad to actually see the sun after several days of gloom. 

Book It

As a bibliophile during the lockdown, I do miss popping into local book shops during my constitutional around (what's left of) the town shopping area. Still there is always a certain jungle-forest named web site and Facebook For Sales groups to tide me over for now.

As a new nationwide lockdown has been imposed to combat the spread of the Coronavirus. 

System Bug

The government introduced a seemingly complex quarantine system to combat the Coronavirus as new cases figures start to rise quickly. 

Bloody Vandals.

The artwork was done by my nephew on a dummy OO gauge Bachmann EMU coach. I currently don't have a layout so I used my front garden for that abandoned look.

Test Card

Tried to replicate the classic Test Card girl. Can also use the picture for engineering works (computer repairs/upgrade) announcements on social media.

Social Circle

As a law to limit 6 people in meetings takes place in a few days time, being done in a bid to slow down new Coronavirus cases. 

Family Affairs

Had most of my immediate family (sis, two nephews, great nephew and mother) under one roof this morning. Like some kind of interplanetary conjunction, it is something that rarely happens (even though they all live 500 yards of my house!) so I've decided to dust off the "proper" camera for an impromptu photo session.
 

Buggy Facebook.

Facebook has been a bit buggy lately with delayed notifications, same posts being stuck on feed for days and not to mention the new look format.

Elle

The internet is full of cat lovers, right? This is Elle, another neighbour's cat who visits me regularly for treats, but I have to look carefully as she does blend in her surroundings.
  She is also a senior puss as she was around when I was in full swing working in my former tomato greenhouse workplace, so that would put her close to 20 years old.

Moody

Couldn't get to sleep properly last night on account of very humid & muggy conditions associated with a week-long heatwave, so I was in an arty farty mood with my smartphone. Straight out of the camera (light was from a torch) apart from the greyscaling. 

Kicking Up A Stink

As the annual farmyard muck spreading has subsided . . . hopefully for now.

Comet Spotting

Had a go at photographing a passing comet, the results are a little mixed at best.

Hairy Weather

A BBC weather presenter (name can be seen in the doodle) is getting to be well known for his post-lockdown barnet. I have placed the doodle on social media and hope the actual forecaster doesn't wig out if he does see it.

Bottoms Up

After three months, bars and pubs will finally be allowed to open for trading tomorrow as the Coronavirus crisis show signs of being on the wane. But me speaking as a teetotaler living at a coastal resort I'm dreading it with people getting drunk and stupid by mid-day.

At this time of the year at 10.30 pm, there is enough twilight and moonlight to to make photos appear like daytime when the camera is set at 30 seconds exposure.
