Head Or Tails?
But what happens if the coin still stands on it's side after it stops spinning. Deeeep stuff.
This was taken using a cheapo Ebay £10.99 glass screwed directly onto the kit lens on my D40.

Green, Red and Blue - I can see the colours of . . . er . . . doors.
An idea came to me as I was tootling along on my bike, so out went the camera and . . well, there you have it.
Obviously I had to do a fair ol' processing for this one, even dabbled about with the dreaded HDR!! (gasps, what have I become???!!) as the original did look very flat and lifeless (they were taken under rather grey cloudy skies).
Those doors should look familiar to all you Folkestonians.

More March Mistiness
I would've thought what with all the humidity and mildness during the day but still cold and frosty at night, I'd get to see some photogenic early morning low-lying mists by now . . . but I was only able to capture this rather weak affair this morning.
Still was lovely to look at under the rising sun, though.

Sea Fog
Noticed this wall of sea fog forming over the English Channel while I was on my way home from work at 4 pm.
By the time I found myself an ideal vantage point at over the hills to the north of Folkestone, the fog was almost upon me. What was striking was the comfort factor as it went from feeling warm in bright sunshine to icy coldness under grey foggy skies in the space of half an hour.

Rainy Sunset
Deep In My Thoughts
I noticed how the outline of my face looked good on a reflection, so I grabbed my S5600 while the idea was still hot in my head.
I took a few, but settled on this two as I couldn't make up my mind which one looks the best. But I love the general idea, all dark and lost which is the whole point of these two photos.

Altostratus Undulatus
Spotted earlier on today. This wavy-like middle layer cloud cover was observed while I was on my way home from work at 4 pm.
Usually it's caused by warm air riding over a mass of surface-level cold air. Think of the cold air being like a huge slab of jelly, all wobbly but not going anywhere and the warm air above is causing it to "wave".
Usually it's a summer feature which indicates instability prior to a thunderstorm, but for some reason I got to see this cloud feature today even though it is still winter!
. . . And Then Winter Returns
Well, that spring-like episode didn't last long as the vice of winter had tightened it's grip once again.
Last night temperatures fell to as low as -5 C away from the coast, this caused flood water on a country lane to freeze over, and where cars drove over that flood water, the splash-back instantly froze as soon as it came in contract with nearby objects - as in this case, a roadside shrub!

Gorgeous Red Sunset
Spice the Guinea Pig
Dawnbreak Over The Harbour
This morning, I tried to get clever and see if I could repeat Wednesday's amazing sun rise photo session, but unfortunately things didn't quite pan out the way I liked.
But nonetheless I have extracted some decent captures out of it anyway. The last picture is a "superior" mirage spotted over the Channel. It's caused by light being refracted by a very thin layer of warm air coming off the sea, but the air only a meter above that was much colder.

Tangerine Dream
Early this morning at 6.30 am, I looked out through a window and saw this red sky just starting to form. Suddenly it caused my shutter finger to twitch like mad so I grabbed the camera and literally ran down to the beach. It was FREEZING cold . . . but I'm glad I thought about getting myself down there, as the end result is what you are about to see.
They were all taken using my trusty Fuji S5600, location was a very cold East Cliff Sands (Folkestone). Very little processing has been carried on all three pictures, apart from a tiny small bit of contrast boost.
