R H & D R's Hercules

Went for a long bike ride today and the journey took me past the Hythe end of the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Light Railway. There I captured Hercules preparing herself for another long ol' journey.
The weather at the time was very warm and sunny.

Some More Randoms

I had a look in the camera's memory card and came across a small number of forgotten photos I've taken in the past couple of weeks! So I decided to bring them to the fore before they get consigned to digital heaven.

One Sexy Tomato

As a few of you may be aware, I'm a tomato farmer working for a private tomato greenhouse firm and once in a while I come across some rather odd-shaped fruits.
I do get to see lots of co-joined tomatoes, or ones that has a little nose sticking out of it, but today I came across this sexy little number. This evening, I got it out for it . . . the camera that is!

Seeing Red

Oh, it's true that I'm not a huge fan of the whole "Eeeeen-geeer-land" concept, but I could never resist a good photography/paintshop opportunity.
This was taken earlier on today - the locals amongst you should recognise this one.

KITT

You do realise it's only a 1:30 scale model? I set the aperture to the smallest my D40 can muster up, that enabled me to get rid of the toy-like depth of field associated with taking close up photos of small items. However it meant setting the camera on a tripod due to very long shutter speed (30 seconds in this case). I then ran the photo through my favourite paint shop to bring out the contrast a bit more (as well as cloning out the dusty bits!). The background was provided by two sheets of A3s sellotaped together.
For some reason still-life objects seem to come out clearer and sharper this way.

Results From A Bike Ride

Went on a 10 miles round bike ride today as the weather was so perfect for it - naturally, the camera tagged along with me. The weather was not too silly hot and not too freezing cold. The perfect summer's day in my books.
Photo No 1: I know for many it's an every day thing, heck, for all I know it could well be your house but I wanted to capture the essence of dear ol' Folkestone. For some reason today was the day to do it.
Photo No 2: A basking bird. Not sure what species it is, but it isn't one that didn't look very lively at all - especially since I got to within 3 metres of it and it didn't even flinch.
Photo No 3: Now you've seen those photos showing a good example of a "superior" image, this is the other type of mirage - an "inferior" type - one that is much more commonly seen when a hard surface is rapidly heated up by the sun, but the hot air then hits the cooler air immediately above it. In the process light gets bent and you end up with that fake water reflection effect.

The World Cup Fever Begins . . .

The IB Sisters get into the World Cup madness.
Unfortunately the same cannot be said of me.

Pretty In Pink

One of the migrant students at my workplace taken by another student using my S5600, but I decided to give this photo an "arty" look by running it through Lightroom.

The IB Sisters

Last friday I went with my sister to an organised event where an England football song was sung and recorded. Naturally my camera tagged along with me and rattled off a shedload of photos. Out of the entire collection I consider this one to be my favourite. This is the IB Sisters in the flesh, as so to speak (the one on the left is my actual sister). I like this photo because it has a cheerful and almost festive nature about it.
In case you are wondering who the "IB Sisters" are, they are just a little spoof band who make up jingles and remixes, all completely for fun and fame where they don't make a penny out of it.

Two Types Of Horsepower

The old sort and the fairly recent. In the first photo, this old nag stopped munching on the grass for the camera. In the second photo I got inside an abandon classic car to take that picture. Incredible that everything appears to be intact and free of corrosion even though the car hasn't been in use for years and exposed to the elements the whole time.
